About us

Four Clydesdale horses standing behind a wire fence on a grassy hillside.
A large white dog sleeping on the grass in a scenic outdoor setting with mountain range in the background, leafless trees, and a vintage-style street lamp.

Life never stands still for us and now I am excited to share the next part of our journey with you!

I have started a new project called Abruzzo Shepherd Art. ❤️

Art has always been something I have felt passionately about, but haven’t had the opportunity to develop until now……

It all started when I saw the sheep on the local mountains. I started to think about a class I did many years ago in Ireland which involved needle felting a butterfly out of wool. Today, I still have that butterfly displayed on my wall. ❤️

Paul is used to my new ideas, but even this one came as a surprise! Over breakfast, I mentioned that I would like to collect raw wool from our local farms. So, I started to reach out to our neighbours and found they had spare wool for me to use! So we went personally to collect the raw unprocessed wool from local farms in the Gran Sasso national park.

The wool has been washed by hand, no easy task and something I learnt about as I started the process, next the dried wool is brushed (carded) and dyed the most amazing colours by myself. The dyed wool is then turned into wonderful needle felt art. The art itself will be based on the Abruzzo landscape and tailor made based on local festivals. It is idea I feel very passionate about, as it is taking a natural material and turning into beautiful images. ❤️

Cannot wait to share my work with you!

Keep on felting, Lisa

We look forward to your stay.
